There is a way of seeing the world that goes beyond the literal, the obvious, the everyday. A way of noticing things that brings magic, mystery and meaning to a life that can sometimes feel dry.
This is the Language of Symbols.
Symbols speak to us in images, synchronicity, dreams and fairy tales. In this language a locked door, a wall of thorns or a hundred-year sleep is never just one thing. And when we open ourselves to this way of seeing the world around us, life can feel deeper, more meaningful and more magical.
The Language of Symbols does not speak to us in to-do lists.
To unlock this language we need to learn to see and listen differently, or perhaps to reclaim a way of seeing and hearing and imagining we never quite lost.
Entering the Woods: 3 Live Online Classes
Class 1 : Exploring symbols & synchronicity. What a symbol is, how it differs from a sign, and how to sit with an image until it starts to speak. We’ll explore the surprising connections that can arise between our inner and outer worlds through playful exercises and guided practices.
Class 2: Working with dreams. How to build a relationship with your dreams, even if you never remember them. We’ll cover simple ways to invite dreams in and to work with the fragments, moods and images that stay with us.
Class 3: Working with a fairy tale: Briar Rose. You probably know her as Sleeping Beauty but we will return to her older form, Briar Rose, and discover a story rich in symbols, offering much more than a princess waiting to be rescued by a prince.
You’ll leave with
A simple dream practice that works even without perfect recall
A new reading of a fairy tale, and a method you can apply to others
A way of approaching symbols in your everyday life that can imbue it with more magic, meaning and possibility.
Who this is for
Women who long for more meaning and depth in their everyday lives, and who are curious about what images, dreams and fairytales might reveal.
No experience with symbolism, dreamwork or fairy tales is needed, only an openness to step out of the literal and into a forest filled with possibility.
We would love for these classes to be playful and interactive - participation is encouraged yet never forced.

Sanne Scheffer and Hiba Samawi are both psychologists with a focus and love for depth and Jungian psychology. They met at the Anima Mundi School and are currently in the third year of the Ecologies of the Imagination research training program.
Hi, my name is Sanne. I work as Jungian therapist and leadership coach in south Sweden and online. When working in the corporate world, I myself had this unexplainable thirst for something beyond the rational but didn't quite know where to look for it. It wasn't until I found myself in full crisis with Long Covid that I started really tuning into my dream life and the magic of the symbolic life started to unfold from there...
Hi, I’m Hiba. I’ve been a psychologist in private practice for 13 years, and before that, I worked in advertising. As a child, I was enchanted by fairy tales and magic. I even wrote my Master’s thesis on them. But somewhere along the path to becoming a ‘responsible adult’, I lost my sense of wonder.
It was only as I approached my 40s that I found my way back. I began studying and working with dreams, and rediscovered the fairy tales I once loved. Life started to feel richer and deeper - more magical yet in a more grounded, mature way. I look forward to sharing some of this with you!
